Sripuram Lakshmi Narayani Golden temple is located in Vellore in the state of Tamil Nadu, in India and is said to be the largest golden temple in the whole world. Everything in the temple , is built and created according to the vedas. It has become a must see tourist attraction of Tamil nadu and that too mainly when you visit Chennai / Madras.
About Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple of Sripuram
The Golden Temple of Sripuram is located on 100 acres of land, at the southern end of the city of Vellore, at Tirumalaikodi. The Temple is situated at the foot of a small range of green hills in a small village known as "Thirumalaikodi" in the city of Vellore of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The temple was established by the Narayani Peetham headed by Sri Sakthi amma also known as Narayani amma.

The most important or the salient feature of the Golden temple at Sripuram is that the 'Vimanam’ and ‘Ardha Mandapam’ of Goddess Lakshmi, have been coated with gold both inside and the outside. The temple also has a gold covering with intricate carvings and scriptures in Gold. More than 1500 kilos of gold have been used in the construction of the temple and lighting is arranged in such a way that the temple glitters during the night when it is lit. There is an LED lighting on the ridge of the star path so that a lit star can be seen from the earth as an aerial view.
All the gold work was done by the artisans who specioalize temple art work using gold. The design of the temple has significance from the Vedas.The temple design represents a Sri Chakra as the star shaped path and one has to walk along the star path where messages from sakthi amma are written for the devotees to read and understand.
How to Reach Sripuram?
Sripuram is located at Thirumalaikodi in Vellore.
For those who are travelling into India from abroad
You can make ground travel arrangements by emailing in advance to the contact numbers mentioned. You will be picked up at the airport and taken to the Peetham which will take about 3 hours from the airport.
If you do not feel comfortable with the travelling in the night,you can stay at the Hotel Radisson at your expense and then taken to the Peetam in the morning. Road transport will cost you about Rs 2000 for the trip.
If you are travelling by air, from inside India
you can reach Chennai airport ( 130 kilometers ), Bangalore airport ( 180 kilometers ) and Tirupati airport ( 100 kilometers )
If you are travelling by rail, you will have to get down at Katpadi station . You can find this station in the Chennai Coimbatore line, and Chennai Bangalore line.
