Tamil style vendhaya keerai kootu recipe preparation

Ingredients needed for vendhaya keerai kootu
vendhaya keerai kootu – 2 cups
Lentil dhal - ½ cup
Red chillies 3
Onion 2 (thin slices)
Mustard seeds little
Cumin seeds little
Tomato – 1
Curry leaves little
Grated coconut 5tsp
Fried groundnut – 5tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt as required
Oil as required

Vendhaya keerai kootu Preparation Method
Fry the lentil, wash it and cook in a pressure cooker by adding little salt. (Until it becomes soft and separated)
Wash and cut vendhaya keerai into small pieces. Take a pan add oil, sauté by adding mustard, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
Then add red chillies, onion, tomato and vendhaya keerai. Let it to cook for some time, until it becomes dark brown.
Now add the cooked lentil and mix it well by adding little more salt. Mix it properly, add the grated coconut and friend broken ground nuts.
Finally add the chopped coriander leaves. vendhaya keerai kootu recipe is ready to taste. This is the best side dish for rice, idli, dosa and chapatti. If you want vegetables, you can add finely chopped and cooked potatoes or capsicum.
Note: Adding more fenugreek leaves change the texture and taste (become bitter) of kootu so add only one or two cups of fenugreek.
