Madurai Kamaraj University is inviting applications for the admission to the MSc PhD courses offered by the schools of the university for the academic year 2013-2014. Candidates who are interested in pursuing MSc or Phd in MKU Madurai can go through the article below and apply for same. For selected PhD students MKU pays the fellowship of Rs. 14,150/- p.m.) for first two years and Rs. 16,450/-) form the third year.

MKU MSc Phd courses offered 2013 and eligibility criteria



Integrated M.Sc. – Ph.D. in Genomics - (2 + 3 years)
Eligibility criteria
    Candidate should have a bachelor's degree in any branch of Life Sciences form any Indian or foreign university.
    If not they should have a degree in Medicine, Veterinary and Agriculture
    He/she should have atleast 55% marks or equivalent
    Please note that if the students have b.tech. degrees in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Bioinformatics with Biology at +2 level are also eligible to apply.

M.Sc. Microbial Gene Technology - (2 years)
Eligibility criteria
    Candidate should have a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences as either a Major or an Ancillary subject.
    If students have done courses such as MBBS, B.VSc., B.D.S, B.Pharm, B.Sc.(Agriculture) are also eligible to apply.

M.Sc. Biochemical Technology - (2 years)
Eligibility criteria
    Candidate should have passed in B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Genetics/Nutrition and Dietetics/ Microbiology/ Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry / Medical Laboratory Technology/Triple major with Biochemistry and allied subjects.

M.Sc. Sub -Aqua Marine Ecology & Toxicogenomics - (2 years)
Eligibility criteria
    Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in any branch of Life Sciences
    Candidates should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the subject.

M.Sc. Electronics and Instrumentation - (2 years)
Eligibility criteria
    Candidate should have passed in B.Sc.-Physics, Electronics, Applied Science, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation or Computer Science or any other B.Sc, degree with Physics or Electronics as ancillary subject.

  • For integrated M.Sc-Ph.D in Genomics, M.Sc in Microbial Gene Technology, M.Sc in Biochemical Technology, MSc in Sub-Aqua Marine Ecology & Toxicogenomics and M.Sc. Electronics & Instrumentation, they can get application form in official website www.mkuniversity.org
  • Candidates are eligible to apply more than one course. If they want to apply for more than one course they should fill separate application form for each course.
  • Each course registration fees - Rs.600/-
  • Candidate should fill MKU MSc Phd application form 2013 in their own hand writing legibly in ENGLISH only
  • Candidates have to pay DD of above mentioned amount in favour of "the Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, payable at Madurai. No fees for SC/ST candidates for only one course.
