Recipes of Coconut Halwa and Milk Halwa


Here are the recipes of two halwaa, As two are called as thirattupal, I have given both the recipes here.
Coconut Halwa Ingredients
Coconut – 1number
Jaggery – ½ Kg
Ghee – ¼ Kg
Cardamom – 5 numbers
Cashew Nuts – 50 gms

Coconut Halwa making
Coconut may be grated and it may be fried lightly in a spoon of ghee and water is added gently to mix and may stirred till it dissolve and change it to be a paste. Separately powdered jiggery may be added in boiled water to get one string syrup and this syrup the coconut paste like solution, ghee, cardamom may be added and stirred gently until it get a think solution. In this fried cashew nut in ghee may be spread.

Milk Halwa


Ingredients to make Milk Halwa
Milk – 2 litres
Sugar – 1 and ½ Kgs
Ghee – 100 gms

Method to make Milk Halwa
Milk may be boiled and stirred nicely with slimmer heat and half of it is reduced to thick, sugar may be added and stirred. Almost ¾ is reduced to form a thicker solution, ghee may be added which may help the contents as non sticky to the vessel. This itself has a nice flavor, so we need not add cardamom or cashew nut, if somebody feel may added these two as specified in the earlier halwa.
