I would say that there are many colleges in the Chennai Surroundings that are doing well. Though there are only some colleges that the students would prefer joining in. I have prepared a list of the best engineering colleges that are doing well based on the three major segments Pass percentage, Placement records and infrastructural facilities. According to my study on the Engineering Colleges affiliated to Anna University in Chennai these are the best colleges.

1. Velammal Engineering College

It is one of the most popular colleges in Tamilnadu that is doing well each and every year and gives a brand name to the students over there. This college would be always present in the top 10 colleges in Chennai. It records good ratings of 3.27 in a 4 point scale that means it is really doing well. It has covered almost all the departments which include the naval engineering too. This college is also known for the infrastructure that is provided and other extracurricular activities like Sports, NCC etc. Overall this is one of the best colleges in the metropolitan city and the student of this college can surely get a good future in the years to come.

2. RMD Engineering College

RMD Engineering College is one of the most well known colleges which were established only in the year 2001. It is one of the colleges that belong to the RMK group. The chairman of the college is Munirathnam who has endowed the name of the college by the name of his Girl Child. This college was ranked first in the year 2012 on the list according to the pass percentage. This college has got a very good infrastructural facility and has both the PG and UG courses in it. The staffing facilities are very brilliant that has brought this college to this level. 3. Sri Sai Ram Engineering College

It is one of the famous colleges in Chennai and it is situated very close to the Famous theme park in Chennai "Kishkintha". It has got a very vast area under its cover and this leaves a calm atmosphere that provokes the studies in the mind of the students. The college ranked third among the Anna university college according to the pass percentage and university Ranks. Hope this is one of the colleges that can place you here itself. It has got a placement record where over 700 students were placed last year and that shows what the market is for the students of this college in the minds of industries and other companies that are recruiting students in the campus.

4. RMK Engineering College

I would say that this college is one of the most well established colleges that are situated in Chennai. It is also situated in Kavarapettai. It is the oldest college in the RMK group and it was established in the year 1996. The Chairman of the college is Munirathnam and is name after his son Kishore. There are many things that attract the students towards this college. This college was very successful right from the year it was established. It is one of the Eco friendly Colleges that maintains good infrastructure facilities and has got a good placement record. It has separated Blocks for each Department and has a good library too where books of all the departments and general knowledge. The college also has other infrastructural facilities like Gym and sports. The transport facility and Canteen are the two positives of the college that really makes the college more superior.

5. St.Joseph Engineering College

St. Joseph Engineering College is one of the colleges under the Jeppiar Educational trust and was established in the year 1995. It is situated in the old mamallapuram road. It has got a good Infrastructural Facility and good placement cell. It provides both the UG and PG courses to the students and there are other facilities like Libraries, Sports that can keep the students fit mentally and physically. The top companies like TCS, HCL and Infosys are recruiting the students of the college and this shows the class the college is offering to the students.

6. Panimalar Engineering College

Panimalar Engineering College belongs to the Jai shakthi Educational Trust and is one of the best Engineering Colleges in the city and though it is one of the most popular college it has not did well to top the table. I would say that it is situated in the highway Connecting Poonamallee and Sri Perumbudur and the Famous Theme park Queensland is situated very close to the college. It is one of the strict colleges that focuses on the student's class and has a good look from inside and outside. The college provides both UG and PG courses and there are a lot of students opting to get into this college. The placement facilities are really good and so the infrastructural facilities of the college and is accredited by the National Board of accreditation.

7. RMK Technology College of Engineering

RMK Engineering College is the college that belongs to the RMK Group of Institutions and it was established in the year 2006. Though it is very young in its year it has achieved a lot in its short period of time. I think that the college has got a good infrastructural facility and it holds the second place in the top engineering college according to the list of Anna University in the year 2012. It has surpassed the RMK College previous year and it is the evidence that it is really doing well in the recent past. But one has wait and see whether it will stand up in its position or leave its position in the future period of time.

8. SSN College of Engineering

Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering is the college that is situated in the Kancheepuram District and is well known college that was established in the year 1996. This is the college that is cerfied by ISO 9001:2000 by the National Board of Accreditation. It was found by Padma Bhushan Dr. Shiv Nadar the chairman of HCL Technologies. It is a college that covers a area of one square kilometer and it is situated in the Rajiv Gandhi road.
