The state Tamil Nadu is very famous for engineering colleges and has many more engineering colleges with variety of engineering courses. There are more than five hundred engineering available in Tamil Nadu. Among these colleges, some colleges have good faculties and infrastructures and many of the Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu are lacking in the infrastructures. These colleges also don't have adequate faculties for teaching. Many students are coming to engineering courses with full of dreams about their future life and most of them are also from the rural areas. 1. The Engineering students needs counselling on the College name first.The students should aware of the College names. There are many engineering colleges have the same name in Tamil Nadu. The same name having College of Engineering, Colleges of Technology, Engineering College and etc..

2. The students should know the ranking of the college which one they want to join. The ranking is given to the colleges based on the infrastructural and faculty and other facilities in that college. We can identify the Top engineering colleges in Tamilnadu through the web sites.

3. The students should know the placement activities in that particular college and the details of placement in the recent years. The details of the companies had come to colleges for recruitment and is it true? also must be known. Because many colleges have the company list in forgery.

4. The counselling code of the colleges must be known by the students.It is unique one and it will help the students to distinguish the colleges.

5. The place and location of the colleges are also important. Many colleges are located in very remote area and they don't have proper travelling facility. For example, Some colleges are giving advertisement as the college is located in Trichy. But, really, The college will be located in 30 KMS of distance from Trichy.

6. The fee structure for the entire period of study in that particular college should be known to the students. Many colleges are collecting some extra amount than they already fixed for the courses.

7. The students should also know about the value added courses and extra facilities like civil service coaching are offered by the colleges. This will help the students to make their future very bright.

8. The hostel facilities and the quality of food in the colleges are also very important. Many engineering colleges don't have this facilities in a good way.

9. Knowing about the Management and the Principal of the colleges are also important to know the education quality of that institution.

10. Last but not least, The students should aware about whether the college has got approval from the government of the Tamilnadu and also from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Many engineering colleges are functioning today in Tamil Nadu without proper approval from the respective authorities.
