TNEA 2012 is a council under the department of higher education of the state Tamilnadu for providing engineering admissions to every qualified students graduating from the higher secondary education. TNEA Sports Quota Counselling 2012
TNEA in addition to awarding engineering seats in top engineering colleges to top scholars in the higher secondary education based on cut-off marks, it also provides opportunity to excellent sportsmen who excel through their game in mean course under various level such as district level, state level, national and international levels. Based on their maximum level the points are allotted for each sport under each category and the sportsmen are called on for counselling based on the calculated points.

Further there was negotiation for increasing in number of seats under sports quota as there are lot of sports being played and the number of sportsperson are increasing.,

As a result of this negotiation, Hon.Chief minister J.Jayalalitha has issued the order regarding the increase in number of seats under quota from 100 to 500 seats, so as an effort to promote sports in the state in drastic way as this increment would provide enhanced oppurtunities for sportsmen in better enginnering colleges such as College of Engineering Guindy, MIT, and institutions under Jeppiar groups and such renowned colleges for engineering.
