Highlights of Tamilnadu Budget 2012-2013

Tamilnadu Budget 2012-2013 was present by AIADMK finance Minister Mr. O. Pannerselvam today in Tamilnadu assembly. As usual the budget invoked mixed response among the people of Tamilnadu. Below are the highlights of the Tamilnadu budget 2012-2013 that was presented today by the finance minister.

  1. Tamilnadu Budget 2012-2013 starts offwith implementing new taxes which could earn a revenue of Rs 1500 Crores to the Tamilnadu Government

  2. New cots will be provided for Students staying in Adi dravidar hostels.

  3. Rs 740 crore has been earnmarked for the Hokenekal water project.

  4. Water facility will be upgraded to 7000 villages

  5. Chennai will get Rs 500 crores for its infrastructure development during the year 2012-2013.

  6. Rs 250 crores had been alloted for improve basic facilities in Madurai.

  7. Two new Cancer Institutes to be set up at Madurai and Coimbatore.

  8. School Students will be given Geometry box, Scale and atlas for free.

  9. Free notebooks for students studying from class 1 to 10.

  10. Anna and MGR Samadhis will be renovated at a cost of Rs 6.83 crores.

  11. New awards to be presented for tamil scholars.

  12. Rs 1 crore had been alloted for Tamil research.

  13. New Insurance scheme for poor will be implemented at Rs 750 crores.

  14. Hindu Aranilaya Thurai across 1006 temples will be renovated.

  15. Medical Centres in Tamilnadu will be alloted Rs 5569 crores for their improvement.

  16. Free Annadhanam scheme to be implemented daily in Palani and Srirangam

  17. Rs 300 crores had been alloted for electicity maintainance facilities at Thane cyclone affected places.

  18. Arasu cable service will be started soon in Chennai.

  19. Rs 8000 crores will be implemented for new electricity scheme at Udankudi

  20. Thirukovil Annadhanam scheme to be implemented to 50 temples.

  21. New buses will be running in Tamilnadu at a cost of Rs 508 crores.

  22. Electronic tickets will be issued in all government buses.

  23. New Mono rail will be implemented beween Vandalur and Puzhal.

  24. Metro rail will get an additional Rs 250 crores for the current financial year.

  25. New investments upto Rs 20,000 crores are expected this year.

  26. Rs 100 crores had been alloted for laying plastic roads

  27. Dals will be given at a subsidy rates.

  28. Rs 4900 crores alloted for food subsidy.

  29. 3307 rivers to be upgraded in a span of 3 years.

  30. Kandalur Kalvai project will be completed by August 2013.

  31. Rs 50 crore invested for river water linking project.

  32. No scope of getting electricity from neighbouring states.

  33. Small and medium industries will be shifted to industrial estates.

  34. Rs 50 crores alloted for improvement of dams in Tamilnadu.

  35. Crop loan of Rs 4000 crores will be given to farmers through Kutturavu Sangam.

  36. 49 new permanent courts will be implemented across Tamilnadu.

  37. 1 lakh house pattas to be distributed for the year 2012-2013.

  38. Rs 814 Crores alloted for improvement of Cattles.

  39. New fire station in Kallupatti, Allangulam and Chinna Salem.

  40. 4340 police quarters be be established at a cost of Rs 400 crores.

  41. Rs 197 crores to be alloted for improvement of fire stations in Tamilnadu.

  42. 25 special courts will be opened for land grabbibg cases.

  43. Rs 20 crores alloted to bring new investments to Tamilnadu.

  44. Tamilnadu interest will be preserved in the Cauvery river dispute.

  45. Farmers will be getting loan exempt to the tune of Rs 160 crores.

  46. Egg and cattle farms to be implemented in Sankarankovil and villupuram.

  47. Rs 200 crores alloted to encourage farmers for rice cultivation.

  48. Driving schools will be implemented at a cost of Rs 15 crores.

  49. Agricultural institute will be improved at a cost of Rs 3804 crores.

  50. Rs 65 crores earnmarked for road safety.

  51. Traffic police will get 87 additional vehicles for patrol.

  52. Rs 1000 crores had been allocated to build houses in Cuddalore and Villupuram afected due to thane cyclone.
