Details about Alagappa University in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu
The Alagappa University is one of the oldest and famous University in Tamil Nadu. The Alagappa University was founded by the great educationalist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar. The university is ranked as the 'A' Grade University in Tamil Nadu by the national Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college spreads over about 440 acres. Alagappa University is recognized by the University Grants Commission. There are number of colleges and education institutions under this university. The University has 15 Departments with 3 Centers.
The Alagappa University spreads knowledge through not only the colleges but also offers week end and Distant Education courses in Alagappa University. The distance education provides various different types of courses. Through this method of distance education the student gets the opportunity to study from home. The distant education offers courses to the students from India and also some of the foreign countries. The Alagappa University has the high motto of "Excellence in Action". The university has the sincere commitment to provide high quality of valuable education.
History of the Alagappa University
Alagappa University was founded by Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar. He has started in Karaikudi in Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. At first when Alagappa Chettiar started it was a institute of higher secondary education. This turned in to a university by in the later days by the special Act of the Tamil Nadu government. The institution took its birth as university in 1985. Soon the University got its recognition from the University Grand Commission. Alagappa University then has included many Arts and Science colleges in the Districts of Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai. In the year 1992 the Distance Education department was started in the university and continues to give education for many out station students.
Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) in Alagappa University
Alagappa University has started the Distance Education in 1992. From then the University is continuously producing many candidates. Alagappa University produces many students from distance education with good quality of education. The university has the well standard and valuable books for the proper study of the distance education students. The Directorate Distance Education in Alagappa University offers many Under Graduate and Post Graduate Courses in various disciplines. The Distance Education offers courses on job oriented subjects. The Distance Education offers many Arts, Science, Information Technology and management course for the Distant learners. The DDE presently has more than 200 study centers all over the country. The Distance Education offers the joining opportunity for few selected other countries. Some of the other countries are such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
