For the past few years Prashanth is struggling to maintain his place in Kollywood due to poor flop movies and his personal life. Now his personal life problem gets solved and he trying to re-establish himself in Kollywood.

Mambatiyan is remake of 1983's Malaiyur Mambatiyan which was acted by Thiygarajan. The story of the movie is based on a real character Mambatiyan in Malaiyur village which is western TN.

Mambatiyan's father is killed by Landlord. Mambatiyan kills the Landlord and his family as a revenge. He is forced to live in forest by Prakash Raj and from where he started his Robin Hood act. In the meantime Meera Jasmine fell in love with Mambatiyan.

Prashanth, Meera Jasmine, Vadivelu and Prakash Raj are doing their character at their best. Prashanth and Vadivelu combination created a lot of expectation among audiences since their previous "Winner' did very good in comedy. Unfortunately their combination didn't worked out well in Mambatiyan. But Mambatiyan surely re entry for Vadivelu after his 1 year break in Kollywood. Hope Prashanth will catch his lost place in kollywood from this movie. Thiagarajan did a neat job and all the credits should go to him.
