The hill has spread over a vast area of 30 s.km and to a height of 3500 feet. It is counted among one of the scenic tourist places in Tamil nadu. Many people come here to visit the place in the week ends. Many tourists also visit this place. The Yelagiri hills with its natural beauty gives the mind good relax and makes to feel ease. The natural forest and green valleys and the rose garden gives the place its beauty.
There are many villages near to the hills which consists of tribal people. These people mainly produce Jack fruit. The jack fruit from this hill is very famous in Tamil nadu. This people also do Honey taking as their another main profession. The Sami Mala is known to be the highest one among the other mountain peaks.

How to reach Yelagiri Hills

The Yelagiri Hills lies in the Vellore district between Vaniyambadi and Tirupattur road. To reach the tourist first come to Vellore first as it is the only city near to that. We can find some small towns near by the hill like Athanur and Jolarpettai. The tourists from Bangalore should take bus towards Hosur and get down at krishnagiri. The motorists can take the National high way 7 which comes towards Krishnagiri. And from krishnagiri take the road which goes towards Chennai. In this road you need to travel for more than one hour as it is 50 km away. After reaching Vaniyambadi take the road that goes to Yelagiri hills and reach it safe. For the bus passengers there are frequent buses from Jolarpet to vaniyambadi which will let you down near the Yelagiri hills.

Places to visit in Yelagiri Hills

There are many scenic places to see in the Yelagiri hill. It is good to see all the places in the hill. It gives the real peace to ones mind. The animals such as monkey over there on the road would be little matter of enjoyment for the kids as they can have a closer look on them.

Sami Malai

The Sami Malai in the Yelagiri hills is the bigger one of all the other mountains. The Sami Malai is one of the famous scenic place in the Yelagiri hills. The way which leads to the Sami Malai goes through many natural places. There will not be any more water facility on the way to the Sami Malai so the tourists have to take a bottle filled with good water along with them.
