There are a number of buses to various places of the state from Chennai and the koyambedu bus terminal is the biggest bus terminal in Chennai that was laid by the former chief minister M Karunanidhi and was opened by present Chief minister Jayalalitha in the year 2001. It has two terminals side by side where one of the terminals connects to the buses that go to local bus depots at various parts of Chennai and the other connects to the various places or districts of Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Tirchy, Salem, etc., I would say that it is one of the most important bus terminals in the nation that provides transportation facilities to most of the people in Chennai.
