This article is about Tamil Nadu Electricity board's new and old charges. The Tamil Nadu government has decided to increase the rate of electricity for the Tamil nadu people. After the heavy loss in the electricity department this decision is taken by the state government of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's New and Old Electricity Rates in 2012

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to increase the rate of electricity for the Tamil nadu people. After the heavy loss in the electricity department this decision is taken by the state government of Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has the lose of 53,000 cores. In order to make the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to a profitable one the government raised the rates.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's Changes in the Electricity Plan

The electricity consumers were divided into many groups according to their usages. The electricity rates differ for those who use up to 50 units and 100 units for a month. The rate changes also according to the place and usages. For example the electricity rates differ for the schools, houses, factories, commercial places. According to the new rule the electricity charges will be charged from the consumers under many categories. The electricity consumers will be categorized as
1. 0 to 200 units per month
2. 200 to 500 units per month
3. Above 500 units.

New Electricity rates from April 2012 in Tamil Nadu

The charges for these three groups will be varied. The new rules are expected to be from the April 2012. The new rates and old rates in the electricity board are listed below.

Devotional Places (more than 126 Units) - 3.00
Visaithari employees (up to 500 ) - FREE
Visaithari employees (up to 1000 ) - 1.00
Visaithari employees (up to 1,500 ) - 2.25
Visaithari employees (Above 1, 500 ) - 2.50
Cottages, Farming & Industry - FREE

New Electricity rate in Tamil Nadu

1 to 200 - 2.00
201 to 500 - 3.50
Above 500 - 5.75
Visaithari employees
0-500 - 4.50
Above 500 - 5.00
Commercial areas - 7.00
Government offices - 7.00

Devotional Places - 5.00
Industries - 8.00
Railway & Quarters - 5.00

Govt. Aided educational institutes - 5.00
Private educational institutes - 6.50

Note: For the Visaithari employees who use up to 500 units will be paid by the government itself. Above 500 units government pays a partial amount so the rate above 500 units will be likely to be reduced Rs. 1. For farming and cottages the expense is taken by the government and so these people will not be charged.
