Arattai Arangam is one of the popular TV shows in Tamil television. The show is going on more than 15 years which is itself a record. Previously the show was anchoring by Visu but now it is T Rajender. Both of them having multidimensional personality having all innate qualities for the best anchoring of the show.

Arattai Arangam is one of the popular Tamil shows in Sun TV. The show was started during 1996 then anchoring was wonderfully done by Shri. Visu, one of the eminent Director, producer, writer of Tamil cinema. Since from the beginning, the show reflected on various public issues through debate on the screen. People started watching the program regularly. Slowly and slowly the curiosity among the public increased to many folds and finally the Arattai Arangam became the most popular show in Tamil TV. For the last 20 years the programme is telecasted on the Sun TV more than 600 episodes completed and even now it gaining its popularity. Due to its high TRP(Television Rating Programme), the Sun network don't want to discontinue the programme at any cost. The program became one of the must see programs in Gulf countries. Indians who are staying at Gulf countries used to record the episodes on Sunday and the same show is viewed on Friday. As we all know that Friday is the national holiday for the Gulf countries. Initially, the program was anchored by Visu therefore it was called as 'Visuvin Arattai Arangam' as the days passed on there was a bitterness in between visu and the Sun TV and hence breakup occurred. Finally Visu joined the Jaya TV banner and started a similar programme called as 'Visuvin Makkal Arangam'which increases the TRP and maximizing the revenue.

The popular show marched ahead in the wake of anchoring of Visu. The show attained its peak point which no other shows able to reach that position. The show is used to telecast at 10.00 am in the Sun TV. With the speaking tactics of Visu, the program climbed to the top most rank in the Indian Television history. Visu is an able worker due to this quality thinking and speaking, the shows got fame and money.

After the controversial issue with Visu, he cut off themselves from the entire SUN TV network and joined the Jaya TV in the program known as 'Makkal Arangam'. Due to his multidimensional personality and knowledge, the makkal arangam also got its popularity and drawing huge TRP for Jaya TV. After the visu's exit from the show T.Rajender, one of the famous actor, director, music director, lyricist, action master of Tamil cinema industry taken over the charge of anchoring the show and pulling onwards. The show is really interesting and informative and still going huge TRP.
Format of Arattai Arangam, Sun TV
Simply a debate on common issue. The participants will be given related topics on their choice and they allow to make their position strong and favoring their view and opposing the opponents view. While going on discussing, the whole issue will be reopened and discussed to find a expecting solution. Some of the topics discussed in various episodes are
1. Young generations are responsible, Young generations are irresponsible, Young generations are simply a watcher.
2. Role of old people in the family relation, Role of old people in the political system, Role of old people in the administration of govt
which one is most effective and which one is problematic. we can list topics as much as we can. These topics are given to the participants and asked them to debate on this. The participants are really a gem having pack of knowledge over the specific topic.

I have been watching this program when Visu has been anchoring and now the show is not that much good because since Visu has ben replaced and the show has become dull. The person who is anchoring plays a major role than the program.
