    It is believed that the goddess Kamachi has worshipped the Shiva lingam here in this place and became as the wife of Lord Shiva. It is this place where Goddess Kamachi has attained her salvation and mukthi by joining her hands with the great ultimate God Lord Shiva. It was said that Kamachi was a Ugra Swaroopini.

    In this Kanchipuram Sri Lakshmi Ammal Temple many famous festivals are being celebrated till today on remembrance of Kamachi. Every normal day the temple will have four time worship in a day. The annual and the big festival is celebrated in the Tamil month of Maasi. The wearing and coverings of kamachi would be of great values. She would be covered with gold and other valuable ornaments. The Chariot festival will be continued for the total of seven days. There are also some special events in this Kanchipuram Sri Lakshmi Ammal Temple on the special occasions of Navarathiri, Aadi pooram, Aippasi pooram and Shankara Jeyanthi. All these festivals in this places are celebrated with great respect to the gods. Thousands of devotees will be gathered in the festivals especially on the annual festivals.
