    Thiruchendur murugan temple Surasamharam festival 2011

    Soorasamharam festival in Trichendur took place grandly today. More than 13 lac devotee worshiped Tamil god lord Muruga. In this article you can find details about soorasamharam story and soorasamharam festival.

    Tamilnadu is know for its murugan temple. Trichendur murugan kovil is best pilgrim center which is one among the arupadaiveedu of lord Muruga. Soorasamharam in Trichendur is one of the famous event of every year. This soorasamharam is the part of Kantha Sasti tiruvila. This time about lac of people from different parts of Tamilnadu gathered in this temple. Tamilnadu government has arranged special bus trips to Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar and Madurai districts. Many giant lights has been installed as it takes place on evening. Shelter for devotees has been erected in order to escape from rain. Special trains were available from Tiruchendur to Tirunelveli. Green and saffron vehicles has been issued to VIP's. Parking is available at Nallikinaru and temporary parking area in Adithanar Arts College. Security has been strengthen by closed circuit televisions and watch towers.

    Soorasamharam Story
    Last date of Kandha Sasti is celebrated grandly as Soorasamharam. The word Soora means negative power or demon and Samharam refers to killing. The whole word implies killing of Sooran. From the sixth day of kandha sasti lord Muruga has killed Sooran who does wrong things to people. History implies that this event took place at Trichendur.
