Arakkonam Train accident Helpline numbers
An EMU train has crashed into a passenger train in Arakonam station, about 75 km from Chennai. The EMU train was traveling from Arrakonam to Katpadio. Three bogies of EMU train has crashed entirely and till now (11:30 PM) 15 causalities has been reported. South central railway confirmed that the accident that took place at around 9.30pm.
As per the latest reports the train is traveling towards Vellore district Chennai Beach-Vellore Cantonment (MEMU) crashed a stationary train Arakkonam-Katpadi (EMU) passenger train.
Trains services to Bangalore, Tirupati and Kerala through this route has been stopped and railway officials are taking necessary arrangements. South central railway has arranged spot relief trains and two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to rescue trapped persons in the boogies. Injured have been taken to the government hospital in Arakkonam.
Update 1: Till now 15 people are dead 80 injured.
Update 2: Central government has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for died, 1 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for the lesser injuries.
