About National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli

National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli is shortly known as NIIT located in Tiruchirappalli in Tamilnadu, India. It is one of the 18 National Institute in India. This is the only National Institute in Tamilnadu while another national institute NIT Karaikal is under construction. NIIT was started on 1964 by Government of India and Government of Tamilnadu. This university at first approved by UGC/AICTE and later it becomes Deemed University. This institute was funded by Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) to attain rapid growth. This college ranks among top ten best engineering college in India in terms of placement and education.

Facilities available in NIIT

NIIT has modern central library consisting of more than 1.5 lakh books related to technical books, reports, standards and back volumes of journals. There is also separate department library for each department. New features such as CD-ROM workstation and the Audio visual section are newly added to library. It has a computer center called The Octagon comprising of more than 4000 computers that uses latest processor and with LAN connection. There is training and placement cell that conducts placement activities. NIIT assures more than 95% of overall placement every year. It has sophisticated hospital with latest biomedical diagnostic equipment such as Ultrasonogram and Auto Analyser. NIT excels not only in education but also in sports. Different sports activities were conducted here with full care and separate spacious ground.
