Na Muthukumar was born on Kanchepuram district of Tamilnadu. He started his career as a lyricist in the year 2000. Later he involved himself in writing novels. He has written only three novels namely Newtonin Moondram Vidhi, Graamam Nagaram Maanagaram and Silk City. Apart from novel and lyrics he has written dialogue for Ajith movie Kreedam. In the year 2006 he was married to Jeevalakshmi on June 24. He wrote lyrics for more than 50 films. He bagged many awards for his lyrics. It is expected that he has wrote lyrics for more than 800 songs till now. He worked mostly for Tamil music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. Now he is one of the busiest lyricist in Tamil cinema. He is the best Tamil movie Lyricists.

He got his first flimfare best lyricist award for the movie Ghajini in the year 2005. Then he got filmfare best lyricist award for the movie Veyil in the year 2006 and for the movie Ayan in the year 2009.

Vijay awards by Na Muthukumar:
He got his first vijay awards for best lyricist to the movie Shivaji the BOSS in the year 2007. Then he got Vijay awards for best lyricist to the movie Siva Mansula sakthi in the year 2009 and for the movie Nan mahan Alla in the year 2010.
