V.O. Chidambaram Pillai services to Tamilnadu
V.O. Chidambaram Pillai was born on September 5, 1872 in a village Ottaipidaram of Tuticorin district, Tamilnadu. He was popularly called as V.O.C, Va Voo Cee and Kappal ootiya thamilan. He begins his early life as a lawyer and after some days he became trade union leader. V.O.C was well known for freedom fighter who fight agaist British for Indian Independence. He was the first man in Tamilnadu who started shipping trade between Tuticorin and Coloumbo. British people arrested him for starting this shipping trade due to jealousy. These services of V.O.C still reminds in mind of every Tamilans. Many schools and colleges were opened in the name of him. Tamil film "Kappal Ootiya Tamilan" acted by Shivaji Ganesan as freedom fighter role was dedicated to V.O.C.
Veerapandiya Kattabomman services to Tamilnadu
Veerapandiya Kattabomman was king of Panchalankurinchi at 18 th century. He was the first man to raise voice against Bristish rule. He fought and dedicated his life for freedom. He was hanged by British government. Now the fort of Kattabomman was one of the tourist spot in Tamilnadu there you can find the swords, jewels and things used by Kattabomman. Veerapandiya Kattabomman's courage were shown to people through the acting of Shivaji Ganesan in "Veerapandiya Kattabomman" film.
Role of E.V.Ramasamy as freedom fighter
EV Ramasamy was born on September 17, 1879 in Erode district of Tamilnadu to a very rich Hindu family. He noted many faults in society against humanity such as caste, religion and community. He fight against these things which are even a great thread to our Nation. He was the first person in Tamilnadu who speak about Women rights. He started his life as a business man and then he entered into politics. He was the person who started Self-Respect Movement or the Dravidian Movement. He was the founder of well know political party Dravidar Kazhagam. He also struggled for our freedom. Tamil film Periyar was story of Periyar's life acted by Sathyaraj and Kushboo was released in the year 2007.
Role of Subramanya Bharathy as freedom fighter
Subramaniya Bharathi was born in December 11, 1882 at a village Ettayapuram in Tamilnadu district. He was well known for his poems and role in Indian independence movement. He his one of the well known tamil poet who wrote poem's regarding patriotism, caste and religious view. He fought for caste system in Tamilnadu. He wrote many national poems such as Vanthe Matharam, Enthayum Thayum and Jaya Bharath which were distributed free. He is one of the national poet of India. He died on September 12, 1921 due to sick.
Role of k.Kamaraj as freedom fighter
Kamaraj was one of the notable freedom fighter who was born on 15 July 1903. He attracted peoples of Tamilnadu by his service in politics. He was the man who stressed for education in Tamilnadu. Now Tamilnadu stands second place in education when compared to other states of India. All this credits goes to Karmaveerar Kamaraj. He was popularly known as Kalvi Kan Thiranthavar as he established many plans for education such as "Sathunavu thittam" which influenced many poor students to gain education. He is simple man fought for our freedom so he was well known as "Gandhi of Tamilnadu". Most of the dams such as Manimuthar Dam, Vaigai Dam, Aliyar Dam, Sathanur Dam, Krishnagiri Dam in Tamilnadu were constructed under Kamaraj rule. Industries such as BHEL, Trichy, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Manali Refinery Ltd were constructed under Kamaraj rule. He was awarded prestigious Bharat Ratna award on 1976 after his death (October 2, 1975).

Freedom fighters like VVS Iyer, V. Kalyanasundaram, Janaki Thevar, Subramaniya Siva, Sathyamurthy, Sir P. S. Sivaswami Iyer, Vanchinathan, Champakaraman Pillai, T.Sadasivam ,Tiruppur Kumaran, Lakshmi Sehgal, Janaky, Athi Nahappan dedicated their life for Indian Independence movement. Everyone opposed British colonization in their region. Most of them are poet, literature and business men who opposed British colonization. Vachinathan is the well known person known for his bravery killed General Ash and he committed suicide at Maniyachi. V. Kalyanasundaram, V. V. S Iyer, were Tamil scholar who involved in Independence movement. S. Subramania Iyer was lawyer played a major role for independence, he is the co founder of "Home Rule Movement" and so he is called popularly as Grand old man of south India.
