This college was opened during the year 1958 by the Textile magneto and a Philanthropist Mr. Karumuttu Thiagarajar with 3 Diploma Programmes. He is a founder of many Educational institutions including Thiagarajar College of Engineering and about 14 Textile Mills. Thiagarajar Polytechnic College owned its great nature due to the steps taken by the esteemed Chairman of this college Mr. M.S. Chockalingam.
