About Thiagarajar College of Engineering(TCE)

This College is a pride of Madurai District which is located in Tamil Nadu. This is an ISO 9001:2000 certified College. This college was established by Late. Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar in the year 1957. He is a great Industrialist and a well known Philanthropist. This institution is one among the colleges in Madurai affiliated to Anna University. The Thiagarajar College of Engineering is being run by the funds provided by the Central and State Governments and the management of the Institution. This college got its autonomous Status in 1987. This is a very good Autonomous College in Madurai. This college has been accredited by the National Board of accreditation. This college offers about Seven Under Graduate, Thirteen post Graduate and Ph.D. Programmes in the Fields of Engineering, Science and Architecture.

About Mr. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar

This great person was born on 16 June 1893. He was a good person with many charitable ideas under him and he made them for the welfare of the people. He is a very great person with Philanthropic Attitude. As a result of his services, he has built many Educational Institutions and Charitable Institutions for the well being of the People. He was living in SriLanka for a quite period of time. Then he returned India and started a mill known as Meenakshi Mills, Madurai. He was also a active member in the Independence struggle of India. He is a founder of many reputed Educational Institutions, Some of them are as follows:

•Thiagarajar School of Management
•Thiagarajar College of Engineering
•There are many other Educational institutions too and they are totally 19 in Number.

Other than the Educational Institutions, he too have founded 14 Textile Mills. He is also a founder for the Institutions like Bank of MAdura,Madurai Insurance Company etc.,
He is really a man of good heart to serve people. He is man who loves Architecture, literature and Music.
