About Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary
Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Nilgris hill of Tamilnadu. This Sanctuary now declared as Tiger Reserve to control the extinct of tiger which is in endangered species list. It serves as home for other endangered species such as Indian elephants, vulnerable Gaur, and Chital. Total area of this sanctuary is 321 Sq. KM with 108 sq.KM of National Park area. Rainfall in this sanctuary ranges from 800 - 2000mm and Temperature varies from 14 degree Celcius to 33 degree Celcius. Mudumalai is well suited place for flora and fauna. Parks found in Mudumalai are Bandipur National Park and Nagarhole National Park in north, Mukurthi National Park and Silent Valley National Park in south. These park and Wildlife are under the control of Tamilnadu forest department.
Wild life of Mudumalai
This place is well suited for avifauna means birds. Most of the wildlife in Tamilnadu are available in this Park and Sanctuary. Many different species are available here. Now it is also home for tigers in Tamilnadu which is announced as endangered species. Without this wildlife the ecosystem becomes unstable. Wildlife in Mudumalai helps to withstand our ecosystem. Animals in Mudumalai
 There are large number of animals in Mudumalai. There are nearly 55 different species of animals. Some of the popular animals found here are Primates, deer, gaur, pig, elephant, tiger, leopard, sloth bear, ant eater, black-napped hare, Giant Flying Squirrel, Bonner Macaque, Barking Deer, Four-horned Antelope, Otter and Langurs. This is best attractive wildlife sanctuary available in Tamilnadu. Mudimalai got highest number of tiger in India. Indian leopard is the most seen animal here. Primates available here are Gray langur and Macaque. In India total of 15 cat species are there among them 4 cat species are in Mudumalai namely Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, Jungle cat andLeopard cat. This sactuary has more importance and the best tourist spot for animal lovers.
Reptiles in Mudumalai
 Reptiles are found everywhere. But mudumalai has different reptile species. The popular reptile available in Mudumalai are crocodiles and pythons. Mudumalai park has few reptile species such as Krait, Bamboo Pit Snake, variety of turtles, frogs and amphibians. Rarely seen reptiles in Mudumalai are Python, Flying Lizard and Spectacled Cobra. Monitor Lizards is the most seen reptile of Mudumalai.
Birds in Mudumalai
 Climatic conditions and surroundings of Mudumalai attracts Avifauna from home as well as foreign countries. Mudumalai is famous for its birds species available with it. More than 10 percentage of Birds in India can be seen in Mudumalai. Neraly 230 species of birds are available. In a survey it is found that among 230 species 110 species are insectivores, 62 are carnivores, 26 species are fishivores, 12 species are omnivores and 20 species are grainivores. This attracts lots of ornithologists and bird lovers.

 There are many attractions found in Mudumalai which is related to wildlife like elephant riding and such activities. The attraction are Moyar River, Bandipur National Park, Wayanad Sanctuary, Masinagudi and Museum. Elephant Safari and The Elephant Feeding Camp are the interested activities preferred by tourist.
In addition to this wildlife there are sight seeing places such as Kallatty falls 9 Kms away from Theppakadu and Pykara Lake 45 Kms away from Theppakadu.

How to reach Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary
Air: The nearest airport is at Coimbatore, 160-km away. Next to Coimbatore one can choose Madurai airport.
Rail: The sanctuary is located at a distance of 65-km from Udhagamandalam railway station and 95-km from Mysore station.
Road: Gudalur (16-km) is the nearest town to the sanctuary, which is situated along the Udhagamandalam - Mysore highway. This sanctuary could be reached from Mysore as well. There are regular buses from Udhagamandalam, Mysore and the neighbouring towns to the sanctuary.
