The pamban bridge is the longest sea bridge in India. The length of the pamban bridge is almost 2.3km connects mainland at mandapam and pamban Island. So, the bridge is called as pamban bridge. The bridge was started during the year 1887 and completed around 1912. The first traffic was opened to train during the year 1914. There are 143 pillars were used to construct the bridge. The whole view of this bridge and along with the adjacent area is really a big feast for the tourists. As reaching the bridge one cannot keep his camera in off mode. The most enchanting sea breeze, blue sky, green stripe of Rameshwaram Island extended up-to Dhanuskodi all these makes the spot as a nature heaven.

Specialty of Pamban Bridge

Being the longest sea bridge in India, there is a vent at the mid way of this bridge for passing the ships. There is a mechanism of opening the bridge to let the ships, boats or any other floating vehicle crossing through the bridge. Even under the corrosive environment the system is still working better. It has been warned that while taking photography or videography at the Pamban bridge the children should take care of their safety. As the road is a National

highway-49. The vehicles are maintaining their speed just above 60 kmph. There is a lot of chance for severe accident on the bridge. It has been observed many time, the tourist friends just give off their heart to the beauty of nature forgetting their kids. Safe journey is always a happy journey.
