    Taste of Tomato Rasam Recipe Tamil Style


    Tamil Rasam Recipe is prepared traditionally in Tamilnadu villages. The taste of this recipe rasam is excellent. Usually Dal sambar is prepared and the Filtered Dal clear stock is used. If there is no enough filtered essence little amount of mashed Dal is mixed with the rasam. There are different types of Rasam prepared but the main masala ingredients are same and the base water content varies according to the type of Rasam what we are preparing. For example in dal rasam the main eater essence is dal, in Kollu Rasam the base water is the filtered essence of Kollu( horse gram). The ingredients used are same in all Rasam preparations

    Types of Rasam Prepared in Tamilnadu villages are


    1. Tamil Nadu Jeeraga Rasam
    2. Tamil Nadu Lemon Rasam
    3. Tamil Nadu Milagu Rasam
    4. Tamil Nadu Garlic Rasam or Pundu Rasam
    5. Tamil Nadu Tomato Rasam
    6. Tamil Nadu Neem Rasam
    7. Tamil Nadu Kollu Rasam
    8. Dal Rasam
    9. Tamarind Rasam
    10. Pudina Rasam

    Tamil Rasam Recipe Tomato Soup Ingredients


    ½ lit Tuvar dal/ lentils essence or clear stock
    3 medium sized Fresh tomatoes
    1 tsp Rasam powder or you can prepare fresh rasam podi
    (1 tsp Jeeraga +1 tsp Pepper + curry leaves 10+ garlic 5 in number)
    1tsp black mustard seeds
    1cumin seeds
    pinch of turmeric powder
    A pinch of sugar
    bunch of curry leaves
    a pinch of asafoetida
    1 tsp tamarind paste
    2 Red chillies
    Coriander leaves as per your taste
    2 tbsp oil
    salt to taste
    Water

    Tamil Rasam Recipe Tomato Soup Preparation


    1. If you are preparing Sambar, Take a pressure cooker and cook the Tuvar dal.
    2. After cooking filter the essence of Tuvar dal andmake this as half litre by adding enough water.
    3. In another vessel take 100ml of Tuvar dal essence and boil the tomatoes, remove from the heat and add the Tamarind paste.
    Squash the tomatoes and tamarind, add a pinch of turmeric powder and mix with the dal essence.

    4. Then add salt, sugar and rasam powder. Taste the mixture and adjust the salt, sour accourding to your taste.
    5. Keep this in medium flame and bring it to boil, switch off the stove before it boils(foaming stage)
    6. Heat the oil in a small pan, add mustard, cumin seeds, asafoetida , curry leaves and red chillies
    7 Waite until the mustard pops, fry the chillies for 2 seconds and pour the seasoning ingredients over the Tamil tomato Rasam recipe.
    7. Garnish this special Tamil Rasam Recipe with coriander, fresh curry leaves and grated coconut.
    8. The delicious Tamil nadu style rasam recipe is ready.
