This was his second time after long gap, he joined hands with AIADMK and he won by securing 55 percentage of vote in Melur Constituency. He won with a difference of 24,462 against rival party Dravida Munetra Kazhagam . The runner candidate was T Rani Rajamanickam of DMK.
