Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary Location
Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 96km from the city Coimbatore. This sanctuary was formerly known as Annamalai Wild Life Sanctuary. It is located at the northern extreme of the cardamom hills in the Western Ghats. This was as National Park in the year 1989. The Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park is one of the largest in Tamil Nadu.
How to Reach Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary
Travel by Air or rail or road to reach Coimbatore. Good bus facility is available for Coimbatore to Pollach. You can get bus for every 2 minutes. The distance to reach Pollachi is 40 km. Get the visitor permit from to the Pollachi Wildlife Warden's Office and take the road to Top Slip, The distance is 35 km.
The second rout is from Udumalpet. This is a Takul located near palani. The distance of Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary by taking Amaravathi and Udumalpet range is just 40km. The third rout is via Vaalparai from Pollachi take the Vaalparai and Manamboly range rout. The distance from is 65km, 2hrs drive to reach IGWS.

Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary Tamilnadu has fairly large population of lain-tailed Macaque and Nilgiri Langur. Wild animals like tiger, panther, sloth bear, porcupine, civet cats and many species of birds can be spotted here. This is one of the best places for the nature lovers. Around the plantations of Karaishola and Anaikonta Shola, there are few beautiful waterfalls in Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. Elephant rides or jeep safari can be arranged from here. February to June is the best season to visit Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. Entry time is between 6 am and 6 pm.
