Yercaud Hill Station in Tamil Nadu

The distance of Yercaud from Salem is 32kms. This beautiful hill station is situated on the Shevry Hills at a height of about 1500metres above the sea level. Yercaud is the only hill station in the whole northern Tamilnadu. The word Yercaud means in Tamil Eri means lake and Kadu means forest. The air in this place is fresh, pure and invigorating. Coffee, tea, cardamom and pepper plantations thrive on the hill slopes.

Yercaud Lake

The first think that attract the visitors is the beautiful Yercaud Lake. This lake is popularly called pride of Yercaud, situated at the heart of the town. A perennial mountain spring feeds the lake. Verities of bushes, flowers and trees border the lake. Apart from being an excellent picnic spot, boating is a popular entertaining event in Yercaud Lake. Adjoining the lake is the sacred Shola or wooded grove where a feast is held every year.

Killiyur Waterfalls Yercaud

Killiyur Waterfalls in Yercaud is the only ware falls in Yercaud Hill station Tamilnadu. Admits sylvan surrounding, the stream cascades from the height of 20 metres into the valley.

Servarayan Temple Yercaud

At the highest point in the Yercaud, about 1800 metres above the sea level, under a huge tree, a small temple is situated deep inside a natural cave. This temple is dedicated to the deity of the hills, Lord Servarayan. Servarayan Temple festival celebrated here is very famous and the Tribal people from the surrounding villages assemble for this Servarayan annual festival celebrated every year in Yercaud.
