Eyyalur Swarnapureeshwarar Temple - Lord Shiva Temple in Eyyalur, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu

Eyyalur Swarnapureeshwarar Temple
Eyyalur Swarnapureeshwarar Temple is located in Eyyalur, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu and considered as one of the famous Tamilnadu temples. Eyyalur is near by Kattumannarkudi town in Cuddalore District. Kattumammarkudi is 24kms from Chidambaram. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and here Lord Shiva is called as Swarnapureeshwarar. There is believed that, separated couples who came to this temple will get together. As per Legend, Lord Rama came to Eyyalur when Rava kidnapped Sita Devi. Once Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita came for Vanavasam for 14 years. They built a tent in forest and live there, at the time when Rama went out of the tent. He asked Lakshmana to take care of Sita Devi. Ravana, who is belongs to asura family, impressed by the beauty of Sita Devi. He kidnapped her to lanka. Hearing this from Lakshmana, Lord Rama run towards north, where they saw Jadayu(Sampathi and Jadayu were two eagle brothers), he fell down due to injure in his wings. He said Ravan kidnapped Sita and gone in this way. This place is called as Sirakilanthanallur, because Jadayu lose his wings in this place. Then Rama and Lakshmana, searched sita towards north, where they met a Marabou (Narai), he said the direction, where Ravana gone along with Sita, so Lord Rama Motcham to him. This place is called as Thirunaraiyur.
 Then they reached Sirukattur via kadambur and Echampondi. There was a flood in Sirukattur Sea. So people in Sirukattur asked them to stay back at Sirukattur and go. Lord Rama controlled the flood by his bow and shaft. Flood had gone under the statue of Lord Shiva. Lord Rama and Lakshmana made archana to this Statue and prayed for Sita Devi and they continued their journey. Lord Rama find sita and both were returned back to Ayodya. So this place is called as Eyyalur, and Lord Shiva in this temple is called as Swarnapureeshwarar.
Eyyalur Swarnapureeshwarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and this temple is famous for some special poojas. Devotees who want child, can come and perform special pooja will get child. Special Poojas for Marriage and Business development also been performed in this temple.
How to Reach Eyyalur, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu
• By Air : Nearest Airport is Trichy Airport. This airport is 131 Kms from Chidambaram. From Chidambaram 24 Kms is Kattumannarkudi.
• By Train : Nearest Railway Station is Mayiladuturai Junction. 34 km From Chidambaram.
• By Bus : All cities in tamil Nadu has road transport to Chidrambaram. Once reached Chidambaram Katturmannarkudi is 24 kms from Chidambaram, from where Eyyalur is 12 kms via Melakadambur.
