There are five minarets over the tomb, one of which is 30 metres high and can be seen from a long distance. Tourist Places in Karaikal Nagapattinam Tamilnadu
The distance of Karaikal from Nagapattinam is 18km and 12kn from Nagore. It was once a French settlement and a trading centre. The place has become famous due to the situation of the temple for the saint Karaikal Ammayar. This temple is popularly called Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple. The real name of the saint was Puithavathiar, means Lady of Merit. She grew up as a great devotee of Shiva and gave a masterly exposition of the Shaivite philosophy by composing several splendid hymns in Tamil. She has been immortalized as one of the Nayanmars. karaikal Ammaiyar history is depicted during the Mangavi festival at Karaikal in Tamilnadu every year in the Tamil month is Ani.
Other than this temple there is a beautiful Karaikal sandy beach, this is a type of natural beach found in Tamilnadu. The other attractions in Karaikal are Arasalar backwater and Children Park.
Tirunallar Saneeswaran Temple Tamilnadu
Thirunallar Temple Location: Nagapattinam District Tamilnadu.
The distance of Tirunallaru from Karaikal is 5kms. Tirunallar to Nagapattinam distance is 23km. This small town has become very famous due to the situation of the rare temple for god Saturn, popularly called Thirunallar Saneeswaran temple. Saturn is only represented as one of the Navagrahas, a separate shrine has been constructed for this deity at this place as he is considered as a god granting the wishes of the devotees. Pilgrims flocks to this place during the Sani Peyarchi festival. This place is also referred to a Nalleswaram as King Nala worshiped the Saturn at this place. Devotes burn gingelly oil lamp and offer heaps of gingelly oil seeds.
