    This page Trip to Gingee Fort Tamil Nadu gives the details about most beautiful and strategic fort called Gingee Fort. This port history says that this was formed by Cholas in 16th century. Then the rulers called Nayakas modernized the temples of the poet. Adil Shahis, Marathas, Mughals, made their habitat and later French and British used this place for their dwelling.

    Beautiful Gingee Fort is situated 36 km from Tiruvannamalai. Situated a little away from the town of Gingee, the ruins of the Ginee fort can be seen from the main road itself. A series of detached hills runs from Gingee south west. Here, the hills have a central core of gneiss surrounded by huge boulders bare of soil and vegetarian. This ancient fortified city closely connected in popularly tradition with emperor Desing Raja, its renowned chief, possesses palatial buildings of great value.

    The fort is one of the Tamilnadu ancient places of historic interest which has been preserved in all its ancient glory. There is a Venkataramana Temple inside the fort. The fort consists of three strongly fortified hills close proximity to each other. They are called Krishnagiri, Rajagiri and Chandra Durg. There are many monuments, granaries and temples in these hills. The tombs of Desing Raja and his wife are within the fort area. This is now served as an important
    tamilnadu tourist destination in Tiruvannamalai.
