The next day of Bhogi Pongal is known as Chakkara Pongal. In this day the new harvest rice is cooked with jaggery, ghee and cashew nuts and is given to the God Surya. The next day of Chakkara Pongal is known as Mattu Pongal. In this day the farmers of Tamil worship their cattle. Cattle are bathed and decorated with beautiful flowers and colourful beads. In this day a bull fight is also organized in many parts of Tamil which is known as Kannum Pongal.

About Bhogi Pongal Festival of Tamilnadu


The first day of Pongal festival is known as the Bhogi Pongal. In this festival all the citizens of Tamil clean their houses and wash it very cleanly from all the corners of their houses. They collect all the unwanted and useless things and gather those goods. In the evening of Bhogi Pongal Festival they burn all those goods in the fire. Thus the Tamil people celebrate the Bhogi Pongal Festival.

About Chakkara Pongal Festival of Tamilnadu
