Meenakshi College for Women, Chennai
Meenakshi College for Women is one of the best women's college situated in the busiest locality Kodambakkam area of Chennai. This is a Government - aided college best suited for higher education. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras. I did my post graduation (M.Sc. in Biochemistry) in this prestigious institution and I feel proud to be a student of this college.
History of Meenakshi College for Women
Meenakshi College has a very good name and has got the credit of producing some of the disciplined and intelligent women in the country. The students of Meenakshi College are trained both in academics and other activities such as arts and sports. The main aim is to mould the young women into responsible and well- disciplined citizens of India.
 Meenakshi College for Women was started in the year 1975 with a strength of 100 students and it has now increased to around 3000. It is preferred by most of the parents for their daughters education and they consider it as a pride. The College offers about 20 different courses in the Arts and the Sciences, which includes PG courses as well as M.Phil. Courses. This college become an autonomous college in the year 1999. The founder of this college is late Sri K.R. Sundararajan who is a great Professor of Mathematics.

Library: The college provides the students with books, periodicals and also journals which are arranged in subject wise. The library is fully air-conditioned and it covers a area of 10,000 sq.ft. The college also facilitates with separate departmental libraries apart from this common library.
Computer Facilities: The computer laboratory of Meenakshi college is named as "Abhinava Vidyatheertha Computer Center". It provides the students with 150 computers with Accessories. Apart from this the organization has provided computers with internet facilities to all the departments of the college.

Principal of Meenakshi College for women
 Dr.K.S.Lakshmi, daughter of late Sri K.R. Sundararajan is the Principal of Meenakshi College for women. She has a doctoral degree and has more than 35 years of teaching experience. She is a strict Principal and always wants the students to maitain good behavior. She has received the "Jewel of India" Award as the best Educationalist in the year 2002. She has also received several other awards. Her motto is "No donation and No capitation fee" for the admission in the college. The college is one of the Top 10 colleges in Chennai and this is because of her excellent execution.
