Raghav's new Tamil movie Nanjupuram

Nanjupuram as the name suggests in a fantasy movie acted by popular television actor Raghav. The movie is all about snakes and their relationship with human beings. The film which was started three years back was finally released on April 01, 2011. The film is produced by Preetha Raghav, wife of Raghav. Music is scored by Raghav himself and the film is directed by Charles. The director is also the script writer of the film which has many thrilling moments. The film has some good visual treat and interesting scenes which would make the audience sit and enjoy. The story also revolves around caste system that is still prevalent in many parts of Tamilnadu. Story and review of Raghav's new tamil movie Nanjupuram

Raghav is the lead role in the film Nanjupuram and hold the screenplay with his good performance. Monika plays the heroine of film Nanjupuram and essays a neat performance considering the character that she plays with. The story is set in a village called as Nanjupuram which is the residing place for all deadly and poisonous snakes. People in the village don't hurt the snakes and indeed considered it as sacred and worship it as ship it as god. They also make a point that if a snake attacks them they would kill the snake rather leave it un-hurt. This is due to the belief in the village that if they leave the snake without killing it will take revenge within 45 days.

Velu is an upper caste guy and is the son of rich man in the village. He falls in love with a girl called Malar who is from lower caste. One day Velu saves Malar from a deadly poisonous snake. He hurts the snake without killing it. The villagers ask Velu to stay away from the village for sometime as they think the snake will come back to take revenge. This leaves Velu in a confused state of mind. He is unable to leave his lover back in the village. Soon Velu's parents also come to know about the love affair between Velu and Malar.

Velu and Malar tries to escape from the village to stay away from the snake as well as from the villagers.

Whether Velu and Malar's love was accepted by their families?
Did Velu and Malar got married and lead a happy life?
The answer to these questions forms the climax and the remaining part of the story.

Drawbacks of the film Nanjupuram

. There is no difference in the storyline. Many films had come up in the past with the same storyline.
. There are lot of loopholes in the script. This can be seen in the film as there is no continuity in some parts of the film.
. First half of the film is slow in pace.
. Editing could have been improved as we can clearly see the continuity missing in many places.

Important highlights of the movie Nanjupuram

. Raghav has given a excellent performance.
. Monika's performance is also good and fits the role of a village girl very well.
. Presentation of the film is good.
. Screenplay is okay with few interesting scenes which will make the audience glued to their seat.
. Music scored by Raghav himself is okay with couple of good tunes.
. Good work done by cameraman Anthony. The scenes involving snakes were very well captured.
. Costumes were okay and blends will with the village look for both the lead actors.

My verdict of the film Nanjupuram

This film will be liked by fantasy film lovers. Raghav and Monika's performance is good. Climax of the film is also interesting. My verdict is the movie can be seen once.
