She has acted in a number of Tamil and Telugu language films. Poonam Bajwa was born on 5th April 1989 to Amarjit Singh Bajwa and Deepika Bajwa. She was born in Pune and is Punjabi by birth.

Poonam Bajwa's first movie is Modati, a telugu film. After the success of this film she got a chance to act with Nagarjuna in the film Boss. Being successful in the telugu industry she tried her luck in the tamil industry.

Poonam Bajwa's first tamil movie Thenavettu was released in 2008 in which she acted with the young hero Jeeva. Her next film Seval was with Bharath. These two films were superhits and bought fame to the heroine. She acted extraordinarily in Seval and got great applause from her fans. After this she acted in the film Kacheri Arambam with Jeeva which was a superhit movie in tamil. This had made her very popular among tamil audiences.
