Sumithra is an cute Indian actress she makes her roles in four languages Tamil, Malayalam,Kannada and Telugu. Though her mother tough is Malayalam, she knows Tamil, Telgu, Kannadam, Hindi and English very well. Sumithra was born on 24th November 1953 to Mr. Ragava Nayar and Janaki at Trisur. She have three brothers, her father was working in a oil refining company. When she was doing her schooling she learnt dance from Murugappan Master, who is guide to K.R Vijaya on that time. Sumithra is good classical dancer. She got Married with Rajendra Babu in 1987. Sumithra have two daughters named Uma, and Nakstra both are also Actress.

Sumithra started her kollywood career at her 19 years in the movie "Mirthachala' in 1974, Director A.P Raj is the first director who notice sumithra's talent. Then she got lot of chances to show her talents. Sumitra's second movies is 'Nirmalyam'. She got award for this movie. Sumithra's debut in Tamil movie is Avalum Penthanaye , director of this movie is Durai and her role in this movie was 'Prostitute'. She got lot of criticism to this movie but this movie makes her career to the top. She proved her talent in this movie so she got best actress award to this movie and she got chance to act with Rajinikanth, Hamalahasan and lot of top actors. Sumithra's first movie with Rajinikath is 'Pavathin Sampalam' and her first movie with Kamalahasan is 'Niraparaium Nilavilakku'. Sumithra acts as heroin with Rajini and Kamal as well as she acts as mother to both of them. She is the luckiest actress who got chance to act with Sivaji ganesan. In her career she has done more than 600 films.
