Sri Ramanavami celebrations in Tamilnadu
 Sri Rama Navami is a hindu festival celebrating the birth day of Lord Rama, who born to King Dasharathan and Queen Kausalya . As per epic Lord Rama is seventh incarnation (Avathar) of Lord Vishnu, who has taken nine Incarnations (Avathar) called Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parasurama, Rama, Krishna, Balaramar, Kalki. This Festival is falls on Navami day of Shukla Paksha days. In Tamil calendar each month in a year is divided in to two fortnights, the days between New Moon day known as Ammavasai and full moon day known as Pouranami is called Shukla Paksha and the days between Pournami to Ammavasi is called Krishna Paksha. Navami will come Ninth day of the Tamil month Chitrai. So Rama Navami is also called as Chitrai Masa Skula Paksh Navami. At some places Nine days festival is celebrated as Sri Rama Navarathiri. Sri rama Navami will be celebrated with special poojas , Kirthanai and Pajanai.
Story of Lord Rama's Birth In India In Tamil Epic Ramayanam , The king of Ayodthya named Dasharathan had three wives called Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi .Dasharatha ruled Ayothya very well and the people of ayothya were very happy. But the only worry to the King Dasharatha was his three wife's had no children, at that time Rishi Vasistar suggested him to perform Puthra Kamesti Yagam, which is performed to get child. So the King decided to do that, he brings the maha rishi Rishyasringa to perfor this yagam. As the result of that Yaga , Yagneshwara appears and provides divine pudding known as Payasam in a bowl and asked Dasharatha to give this to his wives. Dasharatha did the same and three queens conceived. On the Navami day of the Tamil month of Chithirai three queens give births. Lord Rama born to Kausalya, who is incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Kaikeyi gives birth to Bharata and Sumitra gives twin boys Lakshmana and Shatrughna. Lord Vishnu took the avathar as Lord Rama to destroy an Asura called Ravana.
Celebrations Associated with Sri Rama Navami Sri Rama Navami will be celebrated as Lord Rama's birthday. Most of the Hindus temples, this festival will be celebrated in the name of Kalyanotsavam known as Marriage Celebration of Lord Rama and Sita. This Marriage occasion will be celebrated with the small deities of Rama, Sita, Laxmanan and Hanuman. This festival is celebrated grandly in Rameswaram, Tamilnadu. Ratha yathra, Chariot Procession will be taken place in this special occasion. During this Rama Navami festival the devotees will be in fasting or take some specific diet, Once the marriage festival is over they finish their fasting with Panakam, a sweet drink prepared on this day with Jaggery and Lemon.
In 2011 this festival is going to celebrate on 12th April 2011.
