This resource is about making hotel style of Vathakuzhambu, a famous South Indian gravy, which goes well with rice.

Vathakuzhambu is a very tasty dish preferred by South Indians.

Ingredients for making Tamil recipe Hotel Vathakuzhambu

Onions – 3
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Red Chillies – 2
Fenugreek – 1/4 tsp
Tamarind – lemon sized
Sambar Powder – 2 tsp
Powdered Jaggery – 1/2 tsp
A sprig of Curry leaves
Oil as required
Salt as required

Method for making Tamil recipe Hotel Vathakuzhambu

1. Take oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds add red chillies and fenugreek.

2. Add finely chopped onions, curry leaves and fry well.

3. Add sambhar powder, salt and mix well.

4. After about 5 mins add required quantity of water and tamarind paste and let it boil.

5. Boil well till the oil starts to separate, after this process add the powdered jaggery and stir well.

6. Wait and cook till you get the kuzhambu consistency.

Serve hot with rice and pappadam.
