History,services,types and facilities of The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) The Cholan Roadways Corporation (CRC) started its services in Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli Districts on the 1st of March 1972 by transferring the buses from various private companies to Tamilnadu Govt Services with headquarters was Kumbakonam. The total strength of the buses as on 31 January 1985 was 884.
The Pandian and Cheran Transport Corporation was started to provide the bus facility to Madurai,Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Nilgiris.Then, They had been also renamed as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation subsequently.
TNSTC provides many facilities to the passengers like Volvo Bus, A/C Bus, Delux Bus, Express and Non-stop services. The state government operates the above buses with minimum Bus fare. It connects all major cities and villages in Tamil Nadu. It provides free mineral water to the passengers those who are travel in luxury buses.
The state government and TNSTC also offers free bus facility for the school children during the school time by provide free bus pass. It is very useful to the village and poor children.
