Kumarasami Kamaraj is well known as "Kingmaker" in Indian politics. From the year 1954-1963, he was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Then during 1952-1954 and 1969-1975 he was a Member of Parliament. Kamaraj was known for his simplicity and integrity.

Honours of Tamilnadu Ex Chief Minister Kamaraj
The Chennai airport is named as "Kamaraj Terminal" in his honour. Also Madurai Kamaraj University has been renamed in order to honour him. In the year 2004 a Tamil Movie Kamaraj was released about his life. The English version of the film was also released on DVD in the year 2007.
