Tamil Nadu Cricket Association contracted Hopkins Architects of England to renovate the stadium to get prepare itself for 2011 ICC World Cup and it is renovated now with area covering 40,000 sq.m. They have laid translucent fabric roof for shades and for better sea breeze they have provided horizontal gap between lower terrace and the upper stands.
