Surya did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan at Coimbatore and St.Bede's School in Chennai. Then he did his graduation in B.com from Loyola College one of prestigious institutions in Chennai.

Tamil Actor Surya's Entry into the Film Industry

No one in his family thought that Surya would become professional actor as he had not that much interest, when he was young. Actually he had interest in the export garment business and he even studied for that and he worked in a firm for about two years. He entered the film industry in 1997 throgh Director Vasanth and Producer Manirathnam who met him at an occasion and called him for a photo shoot and this paves way to his entry into the Tamil Film Industry.

which was his first entry. In 2001 he starred in the film 'Friends' paired up with Tamil Actor Vijay directed by Siddique. He has got a major break, through the film 'Nanda' directed by Bala for which he received a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor. He starred in several noted films thereafter which has gained him name and fame.

The Tamil Film 'Kaakha Kaakha' released during 2003 directed by Gautham Menon and the great film 'Ghajini' released in the year 2005 was yet another blockbuster for Actor Surya. Afterwards Surya and Jyothika played a lead role in 'Sillunu Oru Kadahal' a romantic film directed by Gowtham's assistant Krishna which was just released before Surya and Jyothika's marriage. His film 'Vaaranam Aayiram' in 2008 have won several awards and the film Ayan in 2009 was again a big hit for Surya which was directed by K.V. Anand. The Tamil Film 'Singam' is his 25th film directed by Hari. Surya's latest film 'Raktha Charithra' by RamGopal Varma, the tamil version of the film is said to be sold for a price of Rs. 4.5 crores. Surya plays a guest role in Bala's Tamil Film 'Avan Ivan'. Now Actor Surya is currently working on the film '7aam Arivu' by Director A.R. Murugadoss, where Surya playing the role of a Circus Artiste.
