    When M.G.Ramachandran (known as MGR), had a controversy with M. Karunanidhi ( known as Kalaingar) who led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) wanted to start the separate party , hence MGR started All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the year of 1972.

    History of AIADMK



    When M.G.Ramachandran (known as MGR), had a controversy with M. Karunanidhi ( known as Kalaingar) who led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) wanted to start the separate party , hence MGR started All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the year of 1972. Till MGR was alive, he was leading AIADMK with out any issues and separation. But now, there are many leaders like V.R. Nedunchezhiyan, R.M. Veerappan, S. Thirunavukkarasu, and J. Jayalalitha from AIADMK.

    The AIADMK party came to power in 1977 by defeating DMK, and MGR became the Chief Minister of TAMILNADU.

    In 1979, AIADMK became the first Dravidian and non-congress party to be part of the Union Cabinet.

    Now AIADMK is leaded by Selvi. J. Jayalalitha ( known as AMMA) is waiting to prove her party status in TAMILNADU in the upcoming TAMILNADU ELECTIONS 2011.
