Keerai Kootu is a healthy way to have spinach. It is purely Tamil Recipe with a good taste as well as nutritious. Keerai Kootu is served as an accompaniment to any curry and moreover it tastes best when accompanied with rice and dhall. Most people hates spinach but I 'm sure that people who hate spinach will have a tendency to like this version of spinach.

Ingredients to make Keerai Kottu

Keerai- 1 bunch
Green Gram dhal – ½ cup
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Onion – 1/2 chopped finely
Sambar powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
Coconut gratings – 1 tablespoon
Jeera – 1 tsp
Oil- 2 tsp
Salt – ½ teaspoon

How to make Keerai Kootu | Methode to make Keerai Kootu

• Take 1/2 cup of green gram dhal and cook it till becomes soft.

• Keerai should be washed thoroughly by removing the roots.

• After Chopping the keerai finely, Place them in a bottomed vessel.

• Put the vessel on the flame and add salt, sambar powder and turmeric powder.

• No need to add water since the keerai will cook in its own water content.

• Add cooked dhal mashed only when you feel keerai is cooked.

• Grind coconut and jeera to a paste and add this also to the keerai.

• Add little water and make semi liquid. Allow to boil. Season it with mustard and chopped onion finely fried.

• Serve as an accompaniment to any curry or just enjoy with plain white rice.

Keerai Kootu can be eat with: Plain Rice and Roti, Chappathi. With a spicy curry or a simple pickle this can make a hearty meal.
