Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai
Madurai is the largest and historical city in southern Tamil Nadu. Meenakshi Amman Temple is located in the heart of Madurai. Meenakshi Amman Temple is one of the biggest Temple in India. Meenakshi temple has total of 14 Gopurams (towers) which is including 2 golden Gopurams. Meenakshmi Amman Temple is the symbol of Tamil Nadu and Tamil people. Hall of a Thousand Pillars is the significant and beautiful one in this Temple. Paintings which represents Tamil culture have been drawn in the Pillars.
Visit Time – 04:30am to 12:30pm and 4:00pm to 9:30pm.
Tirumala Nayak Mahal, Madurai
Tirumala Nayak Mahal is located in the city of Madurai and around 1.5km from Meenakshi Amman Temple. This mahal was built by Tirumala Nayak during the year of 1636. Sound and Light show which starts @6:45pm is excellent one to watch. This light show explains us Silapathikaram in Tamil and English languages.Original structure of this mahal is 4 times bigger than the present one.
Archaeological Survey of India has own and maintains the Mahal now.
