Vidyasagar had learnt guitar from Dhanraj master for almost 4 years and then leant piano. He has learnt Western Classical Music in Trinity College of Music, London.

Vidyasagar's Journey in Film Industry

Vidyasagar got a chance in the year of 1989 in Tamil Movie Poomanam which was directed by Rajasekhar. He became popular Music Director in Telugu, even though Vidyasagar had started his career in Tamil film industry. During the year of 1993 – 1996, he had concentrated mostly in Telugu films. During that time he composed music for some the Arjun films named as Jai Hind, Karna, Sengottai and Subash. He was unnoticed in Tamil film industry even though he gave some good songs in Tamil.

During the years of 1996 to 2001, he had concentrated his career in Malayalam film industry. Debut film of Vidyasagar in Malayalam film industry is Azhagiya Ravanan. On an instant he has became top music director in Malayalam within very short period. He even won many Kerala State government Awards. Vidyasagar's career best movie is Millennium stars in Malayalam in the year of 1999. This movie has world class sound tracks.

Vidyasagar composed music for Tamil films Nilave Vaa and Uyirodu Uiraga, etc. Even though the songs of these movies got hit, still he was unnoticed because of the movies failure. Vidyasagar come back to Tamil films once again in Vikram starter Dhill and Ahith's Poovellam Un Vaasam. The Songs of these movies became instant among the audiences. Because of the hits of Dhool and Dhill movies, Vidyasagar became the popular music composer in Tamil film Industry. Vidyasagar got his success in Tamil film industry after his long 13 years struggle. In the year of 2002 – 2003, he gave some the best movies like Anbe Sivam, Run. The Sound track of Run became the huge hit among the audiences.

The movies Iyarkai, Thithukudhe, Parthiban Kanavu are some the Vidyasagar's movies was released in the year of 2003. In the year of 2004, Vidyasagar got another milestone film in his career "Ghilli". Ghilli sound tracks ruled Tamil film music world for a long time. Especially Appadi Podu Song still ruling the world. In the year of 2005, Vidyasagar composed music for Rajini's Chandramuki. The Sound track and BGM of this movie was one of the best in that year. Mozhi, Kuruvi, Abiyum Naanum are some the best of Vidyasagar.

1. National film Award for Best Music Director for the film Swarabhishekam (Telugu) in the year of 2005.
2. Tamil Nadu State film Award for Best Music Director for the film Mozhi in the year of 2007, and for the films Dhill, Thavasi and Poovellam un vasam in year of 2001.
3. Many Kerala State Film Awards, Andhra State film Awards.
