M.K.Stalin is the deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Son of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Opposition leaders in India were arrested and jailed by maintenance of Internal Security Act(MISA) because of the Emergency . In Tamil Nadu several DMK leaders including M.K.Stalin were jailed. This is the first Imprisonment of M.K.Stalin. He was in Jail more than a year.
M.K.Stalin as Youth Wing Secretary of DMK The DMK is the party which always has a backbone support of Youths. Whenever the DMK Party's conference or agitations happened, youth were forefront in that.
DMK Youth wing was formed in the year of 1980. Stalin was elected as one of the secretary of Youth wing while forming the youth wing.
Headquarter of DMK Youth Wing is functioning in "Anbagam" building which is in Anna Salai. Previously it was headquarter of DMK Party.
Both Youth Wing and Anna Thozhisanga Peravai requested DMK that to allot Anbagam for them. DMK Party announced that who gave Rs 10 lakh first, they will get Anbagam. Following this, M.K.Stalin started statewide tour as a secretary of Youth Wing and collected funds by flag hoisting functions and handed over the amount to Party. Anbagam was handed over to Youth wing on 3-Jun'1988. Later M.K.Stalin was elected as a treasurer of DMK party.
M.K.Stalin as MLA of Thousand Lights Stalin was nominated as DMK Candidate in Thousand Lights constituency in 1984 election. Stalin unable to win in that election because of sympathy wave which was created after Indira Gandhi assassination and MGR's health condition. M.K.Stalin lost in his first election to AIADMK candidate K.A.Krishnamoorthy in small margin.
Stalin again nominated as DMK candidate in the same constituency in 1989 election. Stalin won in big margin against AIADMK's Thambidurai. Because of this victory, Stalin made his first entry into Tamil Nadu Assembly. Stalin lost in 1991 election after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. Stalin won again from the same constituency with impressive margin in 1996, 2001 and 2006 Assembly election.
M.K.Stalin was working as Local Administration Minister after 2006 Assembly election. Later in the year of 2009, he has been appointed as Deputy CM of Tamil Nadu by Governor Surjith Singh Barnala.

M.K.Stalin as Mayor of Chennai Corporation Stalin was the first elected Mayor in Chennai Corporation. He was elected as Mayor of Chennai in the year of 1996.
Stalin gave high priority to Sanitation work during his tenure.
To protect people from heavy and over flooding, Storm water drains were laid in low lying areas and priority was given to desilting old canals.
Many over bridges were constructed during Stalin's tenure to avoid traffic congestion.
