Botanical Garden was established in the year of 1847 by the Marquis of Tweedale. Botanical Garden is spread over 55 acres. Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu maintains the Botanical garden. Flower Show is held in May month of every year in this Garden along with rare plant species.
Ooty Lake
Ooty lake is located just behind the Main Bus stand and near to Railway Station. The length of Ooty lake is 2Km and Width varies from place to place. Boat House is located in this lake. Boat House is functioning from 8AM to 6PM.
Mini Garden and Rose Garden in Ooty
Mini Garden is located on the way to Boathouse. Children's amusement Park and Snack Bar available in Mini Garden. Mini Garden is maintained by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation Limited
Rose Garden is spread over 10 acres of land. Rose garden is located less than one km from Charring Cross. Huge Collection Roses are available in Rose Garden.
Doddabetta
The Oustanding attraction in Ooty is Doddabetta peak. Doddabetta is the highest peak in the hills of Nilgiris.It is located 10KM from Ooty. You can view the beauty of Nilgiris hill from Doddabetta.

Reach Ooty by Air
The Nearest Airport is Coimbatore Airport which is 100KM away from Ooty. Direct flights are available to Coimbatore from Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. Train and Bus Services are available to Ooty from Coimbatore.
Reach Ooty by Train
Nearest Railway Station is Mettupalayam station which is 46KM away from Ooty. Only limited numbers of Train services are available to Mettupalayam.
Major Railway Junction near to Ooty is Coimbatore Junction which is 100KM away from Ooty. Coimbatore is well connected with all other major cities of India.
Ooty to Mettupalayam is connected by Mountain Train. The journey time is 4 hrs. The Nilgiri Toy train connects Mettupalaym to Ooty. The construction of this railway track is big challenge since Ooty is located 2600m height from sea level. In 1954, the plan was draft to build Mountain Train. It was successful after 45 years i.e.) in the year of 1899.
The Train Journey from Mettuplalayam to Ooty is really a wonderful experience.
