Namitha was born in the Punjabi Kapoor family in Surat, Gujarat, India on May 10th , 1981. Namitha was the only daughter in that family. Namitha's father is a businessman while Namitha's mom is a homemaker. Namitha graduated in English Literature. Naamitha used to teach swimming to young children. Namitha was raised in BOMBAY.

Namitha became popular after she was declared Miss Surat during the year 1998. Namitha went on to participate in the 2001 Miss India pageant and ended up as the fourth runner-up, while Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India during this event. This can be considered as the most important episode of the biography of namitha.

The popularity was backed by a number of TV commercials like Himani cream & hand soap, Arun Ice Cream, Manikchand Gutka, and Nile herbal shampoo.
