Tamilnadu cultural dance Karagattam
How to perform Karagattam
A small pot prepared using elements like Sembu (Copper), Pithalai (brass) and Red Soil, when decorated is called Karagam.
This Karagam is beautified and decorated in different ways.
People keep this Karagam over their head and dance to the song in such a way that the karagam does not fall from their heads.
This is Karagattam.
In olden days, they called it as Kudakkoothu.
This takes place during temple functions, thiruvizha, welcome parties, marriage receptions, etc.
Karagattam is considered to be a way of worshipping Gods.
